Spartan caught Jim Dardanis fresh off the boat from Greece in 1959, when he was still calling himself Demitrios Dardanis. See him here in Tomorrow’s Man magazine.
DEMETRIOS CALLED
“JIM”
15
IT is unthinkable that a magazine devoted to the idealiza- tion of the male physique should come into being without obeisance to Athens where such idealization reached its fullest flower,
In offering homage to the Greeks we honor not those of legend, but a real live one in our midst Demetrios Dar- danis, a name he has Americanized to “Jim”.
Jim is 22, stands six feet tall and weighs a muscular 185. A man of many talents, he is an excellent singer and dancer, having toured professionally as an adagio artist.
Like his forebears who were versatile in many arts, Jim writes short stories and poems, some of which have been published. His hobbies are modern dance and boogie-woogie piano.
Not all his interests are so esthetic. He is also an avid hunter and boxes a great deal. Jim served in our Air Force until injury forced his discharge.
These photographs are by Western Photography Guild, Box 2801, Denver. They have caught the poetry of this young physique in a series of beautiful plastique poses both out doors and in the studio.
