No one will deny the alluring mystique of men in uniform, whether it be service men, cop, or college athlete. But the legendary sailor, especially the young ensign, attracts more than his share of attention!
Countless tales come down to us landlubbers of these young men, alone and far from home-far from their wives and lovers. More than a few jokes set our imaginations ablaze as to what actually goes on during those. lengthy voyages at sea where the nearest thing to feminine companion- ship is a few frayed pin-ups and
memories of the last port. The only outlet for these men, as the tales go, is with each other. Even All they have to do is show a sizable chunk of meat poking down their thigh, and place themselves in the proper location. The result-a supple- mented income, not subject to taxes!
Knowing that Americans, in par ticular, go for these “sea food” delicacies, a common sport for European youth is to dress like sailors and hustle themselves to American tourists. They lurk about the parks and public centers, showing off their wares to any prospective buyer. Since there is no way of detecting them, the fantasy is just as strong as though they actually were sailors, and everyone goes home happy.
