The Male Figure #6, Fall 1957 feature on Johnny Felix
We’ve been told that they do things “bigger and better” down Texas way. After find- ing Johnny Felix, we Californians are going to agree whole-heartedly with some of the Lone Star publicity agents.
While passing through a southern Texas city, Bruce found young Johnny training in a gym. We are particularly impressed with the fact that he is only 18 years old but has the defined, mature frame of a veteran body builder.
Now, some of the same publicity agents have told us that Texas is so dry they have to build big, big swimming pools. (Filled with oil?) Apparently Johnny has been fortunate enough to have the use of one of these pools to develop his skill in high diving. Of course, filling the position of fullback on his high school’s football team hasn’t been a hindrance to his body building.
Johnny’s forefathers, French and Spanish, have given him an ex- cellent body with which to work. Can you imagine what three years of constant training is going to do for this teenager?
But then, as we’ve heard, Texans have a habit of growing ’em a little bigger and a lot better.
