Zaro's Back! ZARO ROSSI THE LOST IS FOUND When we began publish- ing BODY BEAUTIFUL a short two years ago one of our most popular models was Zaro Rossi, a colorful Italian boy with a fabulous smile and an equally fabu- lous body. Your response was heavy and flattering. During the interval be- tween his last appearance and now we have had many letters asking about Zaro... where he was, what he was doing, and would he return to these pages. To oblige you we wrote the various photographers who had used him and all of them reported that Zaro was in military service and therefore unavailable for modeling. That seemed to end the matter we'd used our very last Zaro Rossi pose. A 46" chest tapering to 29" waist add up to an unusually symmetrical physique. Rossi is an avid bodybuilder and trains in various San Francisco health studios... serving as a part time instructor to help those who have not achieved his same degree of development.

Besides having a good looking kisser (right), Zaro has a matching physique, as the two small photos attest. Rossi developed the build through weight training in vari- ous San Francisco health studios... and by taking an active part in an assortment of athletic pastimes. His en- deavors have paid off in an unusually trim and sym- metrical physique, including a chest measurement of 47" and a neat waistline of only 29". At a height of 5'8", he weighs 150 pounds. You Got Troubles TO PETE S. IN CANADA: I am wondering just how stupid you think I am! Surely you do not expect me to believe your story regarding the qualifica- tions for entering that physique contest. TO RICHARD S. IN OREGON: I can't quite understand your parents' atti- tude regarding bodybuilding. From what you tell me about yourself, I think it could do you a world of good. Something tells me that you want to get a good physique without working too hard at it, and are using your parents as an excuse for not going to work on yourself. Certainly there is nothing wrong in wanting to improve yourself physically, and if you approach your parents with sincerity, I am sure they will back you in your bodybuilding plans. TO JIM IN CALIFORNIA: I had never heard the percentages which you quoted, and now that I've heard them, I don't believe them. Your "facts" seem groundless when applied to my own bodybuilding friends. ancestors were all farmers. There were no artists or tal- ented people among them, yet I drew, painted and mod- eled in clay as early as I can remember, and I did it with the assurance and the ability of experience, while the mys- teries of running a farm, of planting, cultivating, har- vesting, of the breeding and raising of animals are still very great mysteries to me, after all these years. That is why I do not be- lieve in heredity. No one should, for as long as one be- lieves that he is born of a certain family, a certain race, color, religion-into a certain locality, country, language, profession he will be chained by this belief, and everyone he meets will place their stamp of finality upon his accepted state. I suffered as a child, be- cause I knew I did not belong in that valley of fertile farms surrounded by high blue mountains. My parents must have suffered too, when they realized what a character they were stuck with. But they were wise and good, and they never tried to change me, or to force me into their pattern of life. Instead, where I demanded more paint and more brushes, they bought them for me. I realize now that Fate dropped me in the right place. Had I been born in a city, ZARO ROSSI looks thoughtfully at some of the figures from Quaintance paintings he posed for Zaro loves art in all its forms and always gives the artist serious and intelligent cooperation.
